a visitor

Yesterday a little turtle wandered into our backyard. We were more than a bit perplexed at this little visitor but knew that in a way it made sense. Although none of us here love pets, we have become a sort of 'safe house' or 'safe yard' to many a cats and bugs. This turtle fit in.
But still, we ran around our neighborhood and found the family that he belonged to. His name is Speedy and he had been on the loose for months. He's very independent and definitely lives up to his name. Yesterday he escaped into the weeds before we could take him home and then after he emerged from the bushes today, he planned another escape from our capture.
Yet as all good stories finish, Speedy is home and his family is happy!
