a moment of the day

During the third round of speech groups today, I was working with some students on language comprehension. We read portions of "Grandfather's Journey" -a third grade book, and then I asked them questions about it. Here's the tale that made me laugh:

me: "What kind of clothes did he wear?"

student: "Japan clothes?"

me: "no, he was from Japan, you're right, but he didn't wear Japanese clothing. Try again"

student: "San Francisco clothes?"

me: "he did go there, yes, but he wore a different type of clothes..."

student: "uuhhhhh"

me: "Let's look at the picture, these clothes first came from.... Europe. They're European clothes. What type of clothes are they?"

student: "my-opean clothes."
